Does anyone know if a creditor can garnish money from a contractor working for the us postal service??? We are not their employees, we get no benefits and we have to pay our emploees ss, ssdi, unemp, etc taxes. we're drowning here, it's my husband's contract & I have been disabled since 1/02. That depends. Check out the "wage garnishment" page on this website. Even if they can garnish some of his wages, the maximum amount is capped by both state and federal laws. Also, some states don't even allow wage garnishment.

I deperately need help! Two

I deperately need help! Two years ago I was stuck in between a rock and a hard place. I was living with my brother and his wife and I hated dealing with the landlord at the time so I trusted my brother with my half of the rent and the jerk wasn't paying for a whole year, he was pocketing my money and not paying his share! We received an eviction notice and he ran down to the landlord and told him we would do anything not to be evicted. (He didn't want me to find out he was not paying). The landlord made up a consent judgement we all signed it then my idiot brother and his idiot wife moved out and left me high and dry knowing I had no where to go!! I then begged my other brother and his girlfriend to move in with me because I couldn't afford to live there on my own. They agreed, So we went to the landlord and I explained to him that I had been paying the whole time and my brother screwed me over. He understood and we signed a new lease. He said to me that he could not have a tenant live in one of his houses with this much debt so my brother would have to assume the previous debt himself, Of course I didn't care so I said ok. My brother (who screwed me) then signed an agreement with the landlord that stated he would "inherit" the whole debt and make $25 dollar payments toward this debt every week. Of course my brother din't make any payments,so now the landlord has filed a garnishment against me for 10k. I am scared out of my mind. My boyfriend and I are barely surviving living and "managing" our bills now. My brother can't find the contract that would save my ass and his wife (soon to be ex) won't even look through her paperwork she has at home! I lived in a house where there was black mold in the basement and it ruined all my paperwork and my personal belongings. I know that I have to go to court to fight this but I don't and can't afford to loose a penny of my checks. I am only 22 and a garnishment on my wages means I will go into debt with others bills that actual belong to me! What can I do to save me? -Thank you for your time

Education is of the prime

Education is of the prime importance all over the world and for the education in order to meet the expenses many people avail loan not only in USA but also in other countries. In USA the financial aid is provided to the student, usually in several ways. They are the federal loans for students that are made directly to the student in which there is an option of deferring the payment for up to five years while enrolled in school at least half-time. In this the amount provided is limited. Another federal loan for students is provided to parents directly with the limit higher than the student loan directly but the payment starts as soon as the loan is availed.
