A judgment has been issued against me
I have been working with a debt settlement company since March 2007. Bank of America has now won a judgment against me for $9000+. Is there anything I can do to settle at a lower amount or payment plan now, or is this it, I must pay the whole amount? What about an appeal? I have to pay 10% of each paycheck through my county Sherrif.
I have 2 separate judgements
I have 2 separate judgements against me for credit cards. They have been garnishing my wages for about a year now. Is there any way to pay these judgements off? Who would I have to contact to set this in motion if possible?
If they have a judgment and
If they have a judgment and are collecting from a garnishment, then I'm not sure how willing they will be to settle (this may depend on how much they are able to get from each paycheck... if it's not a lot, then saving up and offering them a settlement might work if they can see the value in accepting about half or less of what you owe in exchange for a lump-sum payoff). Usually, creditors settle only when they are not receiving any payments from a customer due to that customer's financial hardship. You may want to speak with an attorney licensed to practice law in your state to see what your options are because wage garnishment laws vary from state-to-state.

While debt settlement
While debt settlement companies are not law firms (something important to keep in mind), they may still be able to negotiate a settlement on a judgment. The important thing is to keep your debt settlement company informed about these things so they can adjust negotiation tactics, update records and best service your account.
You should also look up NY legislation regarding wage garnishment to make sure BofA isn't crossing any lines.
