Debt Collectors on Facebook?

Some debt collectors are turning to social media sites, like Facebook and LinkedIn, to track down debtors. One collector even admits to befriending debtors so they can learn more about them:

"My collectors and skip tracers will put their name in to be a friend to the debtor," [Gary Nitzkin, a credit collection attorney with his own firm, Nitzkin and Associates] says. "And then they can get into their inner circle and talk to their other friends. Find out what they're doing. Are they going boating today — on their new sailboat? Well, guess what? We just found an asset that we can take."

Unsecured Debt Consolidation Loans

The types of loans which do not have any security kept over them by the lenders are called unsecured debt consolidation loans. In such types of loans no collateral or a guarantee such as your car or your house is needed. Typically these kinds of loans are difficult to attain by people who have serious debt problems, and who cannot provide any collateral guarantee. The risk for the lender is more in such loans.

The unsecured debt consolidation loan is gaining popularity since unlike the secured debt consolidation loan, there is no need to put your residence at risk. So this is a much better way to dealing with debt management, rather than going in for a secured loan consolidation. The rate of interest for unsecured debt consolidation loans is higher than the secured type of loans. The rates are high in order to protect the interest of the lenders. All the lender and borrower have to do is sign a contract, and the deal can be finalized with just a signature.

Good news for BoA customers

Bank of America will send its 4 millions credit card customers a one-page letter outlining in clear and simple language various fees and interest rates. It will also explain how interest rates will increase when payments are missed.

Though this letter is voluntary, it reflects the sentiment of federal laws, which go into effect in February, aimed at clarifying banking policies for consumers.

Not included in the letter is how long it will take to pay off the debt paying only the minimum payments; this information will be required on monthly statements starting in February.

Learn more here:

Debt Consolidation - Choose what is right for you

Debt Consolidation - Choose what is right for you

If you have been trying to reduce your debt in different ways but still do not see the mountain of debts lowering, this is your fault then. There are many systems available through which you can reduce your debts but if that is not happening there is something wrong that you are doing. So what is it that you can do to improve your situation?

If you have already fallen in the vicious circle of excessive debts then there are only two options that remain for you. They are debt consolidation or Debt settlement, with the exception of bankruptcy. Bankruptcy is always an option but with the changing laws, it is no more an easy option, and again in any case, the above-mentioned options should always be explored before filing for bankruptcy. Remember, bankruptcy will affect your credit rating adversely for another seven years to follow.

job certificate being threatened

I received a call saying that I had 5 days to come up with $1,300 or I would lose my CNA certificate. Needless to say it freaked me out exptremely since this is how I make my living. This collection agency hasn't attempted to try and garnish my wages so my question is, can they do that? They just recently sued me, and that hasn't even gone through. I would declare bankruptcy but I did so already in 2005. All of my bills are medical and since one of my children have a pretty serious medical condition-I always owe one doctor or hospital money. Can collections take away my CNA before garnishment-I don't know why they think they could get money from me if they make me lose my job, kinda funny.

Taking on & beating the evil CCA!

Here comes the CCA begining on May 26, 2009 with it's opening salvo of threats or lawsuits, wage garnishment, taking to abitration on-and-on.

What the monkey on the other end of the telephone doesn't understand is that the person he has contacted can actually read, imagine that!

Since May 26, 2009 I've got 10 'contact' violations under section 807 of FDCPA, 4 'threats of actions they can not take' under FDCPA and 13 THIRTEEN under section 807/807 of FDCPA.

They received and signed for a Debt Validation letter your best weapon of mass destruction on June 8th, 2009 and most of these violations have occured since that date. They simply can not provide the validation information that they would have to provide in a Courtroom, just can't do it otherwise when last Fridays 'final call before abitration' would be filed for they wouldn't have called me again on Tuesday June 30th with yet another final chance to avoid arbitration.
